The frequency range considered ranges from direct current (d.c) to. 400GHz. Recently, no experiments have been determined for frequencies above 1GHz. The purpose of the experiment should depend on the specific equipment, its configuration, ports, technology, and working conditions. This standard considers the internal environment of railway locomotives and vehicles, the external environment of railways, and the interference of incoming equipment, such as handheld radio transmitters and equipment. If a port is intended for transmitting and receiving radio communication, the radiation and immunity limitations in this standard do not apply in terms of communication frequency. This standard does not apply to the instantaneous radiation during equipment startup or shutdown. The purpose of this standard is to determine the limitations and testing methods of electromagnetic radiation, as well as the immunity testing requirements related to conducted and radiated interference. These limitations and tests have basic electromagnetic compatibility requirements. Radiation requirements have been selected to ensure that the interference generated by equipment operating normally on railway locomotives and vehicles does not exceed one level, which can prevent other equipment from operating as scheduled. Similarly, immunity requirements have been selected to ensure that the immunity of locomotive and vehicle equipment is at an appropriate level.
