Scope and Purpose: This standard is a fundamental standard that specifies the basic testing methods and procedures applicable to electromechanical components within the scope of IEC/TC 48 Technical Committee * (when required by detailed specifications). The basic test methods and procedures are also applicable to similar components (when specified in detailed specifications). The purpose of this standard is to determine the test methods and measurement procedures applicable to the specifications for electromechanical components, and to use them in conjunction with IEC 68. This standard should be used in conjunction with the general specifications, sub specifications, and/or detailed specifications. The general specification, sub specification, and/or detailed specification should select and explain the test items used, the severity level required for each test, and the allowable range of performance indicators. Detailed specifications should also specify the differences from standard test procedures, which are necessary for the type of component being considered in the test. Special tests that may be required can also be further specified. If there is a conflict between this standard and specific component specifications, the requirements of the specific component specifications shall prevail. The provisions contained in the following standards are incorporated into this standard by reference. At the time of publication of this standard, all versions shown are valid.
