Scope and Purpose This section applies to circuit breakers with main contacts used to connect to circuits with a rated voltage not exceeding AC. 1000V or DC 1500V. This section also specifies supplementary requirements for circuit breakers with fuses. This section is applicable to any circuit breaker with rated current, various structural types, or various intended uses. The requirements for circuit breakers used for grounding protection are included in Appendix B. The additional requirements for electronic overcurrent protection circuit breakers are included in Appendix F. Additional requirements for IT system circuit breakers are included in Appendix H. The requirements and test methods for electromagnetic compatibility of circuit breakers are included in the appendix. The requirements for circuit breakers without overcurrent protection are included in Appendix L. The requirements for the residual current device module (without internal current breaking device) are included in Appendix M. The requirements and test methods for electromagnetic compatibility of circuit breaker accessories are included in Appendix N. The requirements for instantaneous release circuit breakers (ICBs) are included in Appendix O. The supplementary requirements for circuit breakers used as direct starters are specified in GB 14048.4-2003 applicable to low-voltage contactors and starters. The requirements for circuit breakers used for wire protection in buildings and similar locations, as well as designed for use by unskilled personnel, are specified in GB 10963. The requirements for circuit breakers for equipment (such as electrical appliances) are specified in GB 17701-2008. For circuit breakers used for certain specific purposes (such as traction, rolling mills, and ships), necessary special regulations and supplementary requirements can be made. Note: The circuit breakers involved in this section can be equipped with devices that can automatically disconnect under predetermined conditions, except for overcurrent and undervoltage, such as reverse power or reverse current disconnection devices. This section does not involve action verification under such predetermined conditions. The purpose of this section is to specify: a) the characteristics of circuit breakers; b) The conditions that circuit breakers should meet under the following conditions: 1) the action and performance during normal operation; 2) The actions and performance under overload conditions, as well as the actions and performance under short circuit conditions, including the coordination during operation (such as the coordination of selective and backup protection); 3) Dielectric performance. c) The various tests required to prove the achievement of the above conditions and the test methods used; d) the data indicated or given on the circuit breaker
