This standard specifies the performance requirements for DC or AC electronic ballasts. The power supply includes an AC power supply of 50 Hz/60Hz and below 1 000V. This type of ballast is a converter equipped with triggering and stabilizing components, which can operate the discharge lamp under direct current or at a frequency different from the power supply frequency. The discharge lamps matched with the ballast include high-pressure mercury lamps, high-pressure sodium lamps, and metal halide lamps. This standard does not include ballasts for fluorescent lamps and low-pressure sodium lamps, as well as ballasts for special lamps used in theaters and motor vehicles. The clauses in the following documents are referred to as provisions of this standard through normative references.
