This section specifies all rules and requirements for the basic performance of low-voltage switchgear and control equipment, in order to achieve consistency in the performance requirements and tests of equipment within the corresponding range, and to avoid conducting required tests according to different standards. This section includes all the content considered as basic requirements in various product standards, as well as specific items with broad significance and applications, such as temperature rise, dielectric properties, etc. For various types of low-voltage switchgear and control equipment, only two main standards are required to determine all their requirements and tests: 1) This part is abbreviated as "GB 14048.1" in the standards for various low-voltage switchgear and control equipment; 2) The relevant product standards are referred to as "relevant product standards" or "product standards" in the following text. The basic requirements applicable to a specific product standard should be clearly defined in the product standard and the relevant clause numbers referencing GB 14048.1 should be indicated, such as 7.2.3 in GB 14048.1. A specific product standard may not specify basic requirements, so the content can be omitted (when not applicable), or certain content can be added (such as when it is deemed that the basic requirements are not applicable in certain situations), unless there are sufficient technical reasons, and the product standard is not allowed to violate the basic rules. 1.1 Scope and Purpose of Application This section applies (when required by relevant product standards) to low-voltage switchgear and control equipment (hereinafter referred to as "electrical appliances"), which are used to connect circuits with a rated voltage of AC not exceeding 1000 V or DC not exceeding 1500 V This section does not apply to low-voltage switchgear and control equipment specified in GB 7251. The purpose of this section is to specify the basic rules and requirements common to electrical appliances, including: - definition; - characteristics; - relevant information of electrical appliances; - normal use, installation, and transportation conditions; - structural and performance requirements--- Characteristics and performance verification. The requirements for digital inputs and/or digital outputs compatible with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) in electrical appliances are specified in Appendix S. 1.2 Normative References The following documents are essential for the application of this document. For dated references, only the dated version applies to this document. For undated references, the latest version (including all modification orders) applies to this document.
