In order to ensure the personal health and safety of Chinese consumers, the National Import and Export Commodity Inspection Bureau has conducted safety certification for imported household appliance products. When purchasing imported mechanical and electrical products, consumers should pay attention to whether there is a commercial inspection safety certification mark. Imported mechanical and electrical products, including automobiles, motorcycles and their engines, refrigerators and their compressors, air conditioners and their compressors, televisions and their picture tubes, are only safe and reliable if they are labeled with a commercial inspection safety certification mark. The safety certification mark for commodity inspection is a yellow circular shape with a white background. There is a variant of "CCIB" (abbreviation for "China Commodity Inspection") and the English letter "S" on it, indicating safety. For imported air conditioners and air conditioning compressors, imported refrigerators and refrigerator compressors, imported televisions and picture tubes, the "safety certification mark" should be affixed or molded on the back of the product. Starting from October 1, 1996, 20 types of imported electronic and electrical products such as personal computers must obtain the "Import Product Safety and Quality License" and have the "CCIB" safety mark approved by the National Commodity Inspection Bureau before being allowed to be sold in the domestic market.
