This standard specifies the classification, characteristics, markings, product information, standard operating conditions for use and installation, structural and operational requirements, and testing of mobile residual current devices (hereinafter referred to as PRCDs) for household and similar purposes. This standard applies to PRCD, which consists of a plug, a residual current device (RCD), and one or more sockets or wiring devices, and its operating function is related to or independent of the power supply voltage. PRCD does not come with overcurrent protection and is suitable for single-phase circuits with a rated voltage to ground not exceeding 250 V AC and a rated current not exceeding 16A. In addition to the protection provided by fixed devices, PRCD is used to provide direct contact electrical shock hazard protection for the circuit at its lower end. The rated residual operating current of PRCD shall not exceed 0.03 A. Plugs and sockets should comply with relevant standards. This standard is applicable to mobile devices that can simultaneously detect residual current, compare the residual current value with the residual action current value, and disconnect the protected circuit when the residual current exceeds this value. PRCDs cannot be used as part of fixed devices, as their connection devices can be plugs, sockets, terminals, or cables. Note 1. The requirements of PRCD are consistent with the general requirements of GB 16916.1. PRCD is mainly operated by non professional personnel and is designed to not require maintenance, who can submit certification. Note 2: The RCD part of PRCD is not used to provide isolation, and isolation can be provided by the plug. Note 3: If necessary, integrated fuses are allowed for the relevant plug and socket systems. The technical requirements of this standard are applicable to the environmental conditions specified in 7.1. PRCDs used in more severe environmental conditions may require additional technical requirements. The PRCD containing batteries is not included within the scope of this standard. This standard does not apply to PRCDs with additional functions for detecting power side faults and preventing them from closing in the event of power supply circuit faults.
