This standard specifies the terms and definitions, classification, basic requirements, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, labels, packaging, transportation, storage, and quality commitment of electronic switches for household and similar fixed electrical installations. This standard applies to fixed mounted electronic switches used for operating lighting circuits, controlling the brightness of lights (dimmers), controlling the speed of electric motors (such as exhaust fans), and for other purposes (such as heating control), with a rated voltage not exceeding 250V AC and a rated current not exceeding 32A. Note: In this standard, unless otherwise specified, Wherever the term "voltage" or "current" is used, it refers to its r.m.s value (root mean square value); wherever "power" or similar words are used, they refer to its active power.
