Scope of application

This section covers the safety of household and similar electrical appliances with a rated voltage of no more than 250 V for single-phase appliances and no more than 480 V for other appliances. Appliances that are not intended for general household use but may still pose a risk to the public, such as those intended for use by non professionals in shops, light industries, and farms, also fall within the scope of this section. Note 1: Examples of such appliances include industrial and commercial cooking equipment, cleaning utensils, and appliances used in barbershops. In practical terms, the common hazards present in the various appliances involved in this section are those that may be encountered by all people in residential and residential environments. However, generally speaking, this section does not address: - the dangers of unattended young children and disabled people using equipment; - the situation of young children playing with equipment. Note 2: Pay attention to the following situations: - For equipment intended for use on vehicles, ships, or aircraft, additional requirements may be required. In many countries, national health care departments, national labor protection departments, national water supply management departments, and similar departments have set additional requirements for appliances. Note 3: This section does not apply to: - Instruments specifically designed for industrial use; -- Intended to be used in special environments where corrosive or explosive gases (such as dust, steam, or gas) are frequently generated—— Audio, visual, and similar electronic devices (GB 8898); - Medical electrical equipment (GB 9706.1)—— Handheld electric tools (GB 3883.1)- Information Technology Equipment (GB 4943); - Mobile electric tools (GB 13960). The clauses in the following documents are referred to in this part of GB4706 and become the clauses of this part. For dated reference documents, all subsequent amendments (excluding corrected content) or revisions are not applicable to this section. However, parties who have reached agreements based on this section are encouraged to study whether the latest versions of these documents can be used. For undated references, the latest version applies to this section.
