1 Scope of Application

This part of GB 14048 is applicable to transfer switching equipment (TSE) with a rated voltage of AC not exceeding 1000 V and DC not exceeding 1500 V. TSE is used for the conversion between two power sources, interrupting the power supply to the load during the conversion process. This section includes: - Manually operated transfer switch appliances (MTSE); - Remote operated transfer switch appliances (RTSE); -- Automatic Transfer Switching Equipment (ATSE). This section includes TSEs with and without enclosures. The necessary control appliances (such as control switches) and protective appliances (such as circuit breakers) for TSE should comply with the requirements of relevant national standards. Note 1: TSE for emergency lighting only may need to comply with specific regulations and/or statutory requirements, as it is not within the scope of this standard. The purpose of this section is to specify: a) the characteristics of the following electrical appliances: 1. specialized transfer switch appliances; 2) Derived type transfer switch appliances. b) The relevant conditions that electrical appliances must comply with: 1) predetermined operation of the appliances; no identification results; 2) operation and performance under specified abnormal conditions (such as short circuits); 3) Dielectric performance. c) The tests that demonstrate compliance with these conditions and the methods for conducting these tests. d) The data that should be indicated on the electrical appliance and the data that the manufacturer needs to provide. Note 2: This section also includes ATSE or RTSE for safety facilities as specified in GB/T 16895.1-2008, and its installation requirements can be found in IEC 60364-5-56. Note 3: Other requirements for ATSE are under consideration, such as closed to TSE (closed before breaking). The following normative references are essential for the application of this document.
