Scope
This chapter of IEC 60669-1 applies after the following modifications: the first paragraph is replaced by the following: this part specifies the technical requirements for the classification, terminals, structural requirements, mechanical and electrical performance of isolation switches for household and similar fixed electrical installations. This part of GB 16915 is applicable to manually operated general purpose isolation switches for household and similar fixed electrical installations used indoors or outdoors, with a rated voltage not exceeding 440 V and a rated current not exceeding 125A. Note: According to GB/T 16935.1 "Insulation Coordination of Equipment in Low Voltage Systems - Part I: Principles, Requirements, and Tests", isolation switches are designed for environments with overvoltage category III and pollution level 2. The following normative references are essential for the application of this document. For dated references, only the dated version applies to this document. For undated references, the latest version (including all modification orders) applies to this document. This chapter of IEC 60669-1 Switches for household and similar fixed electrical installations: Part 1: General requirements applies with the following modifications: IEC 61180-1:1992 High voltage testing techniques for low-voltage electrical equipment, Part 1: Definitions and test requirements (High voltage getest techniques for low voltage equipment Part 1; Definitions, test and procedure requirements) 3. The following terms and definitions are added to this chapter of IEC 60669-1 and apply: Definition added: 3.101 Isolation switch is a switch designed to isolate a device or part of a device or electrical equipment from a power source, and to connect, carry, or cut off all current carrying phase currents. 3.102 The AC component value of the expected current that a switch that is protected by a suitable series connected short-circuit protection device (SCPD) without short-circuit protection can withstand under specified usage and operating conditions P>
