This standard specifies the performance requirements for starting devices (starters and triggers) for tubular fluorescent lamps and other discharge lamps using AC power sources not exceeding 1000 V, 50 Hz, or 60 Hz. These starting devices can generate starting pulses not exceeding 5 kV. This standard is used in conjunction with IEC 61347-1 and IEC 61347-2-1. Note 1: The requirements for all glow starters (including thermal relays/circuit breakers) used for fluorescent lamps and other discharge lamps are given in TEC 60155. Note 2: The EMC requirements for terminal products such as lighting fixtures and independent control devices are regional standards. In lighting fixtures, the control device plays a major role in EMC. Control devices and other components should comply with these standards.
