1 Scope
1.1 This section applies to plugs and fixed or mobile sockets with or without grounding contacts for indoor or outdoor use, household and similar purposes, only for AC power, rated voltage above 50V but not exceeding 440V, rated current not exceeding 32A This standard does not include the requirements for concealed installation boxes, but only the requirements for exposed installation boxes that are necessary for testing sockets
Note 1: The general requirements for installation boxes can be found in IS14772.
This standard applies to plugs with wire components, plugs with wire extension components, and mobile sockets, as well as plugs and sockets that are part of appliances, unless otherwise specified in relevant standards.
Note 2: Special requirements for the following devices are under consideration
a) Converter
b) Fused plug c) Cable reel
d) Extra low voltage (ELV) and safety extra low voltage (SELV) plugs, fixed and mobile sockets. This standard does not apply to:
- Industrial plugs, sockets, and couplers; A device coupler A fixed socket used in combination with fuses, automatic switches, etc. Plug, fixed or mobile socket for ELV Note 3: If the indicator light (if any) on the socket meets relevant standards, it is applicable to sockets equipped with indicator lights Plugs and fixed or mobile sockets that comply with this standard are suitable for use in environments where the ambient temperature usually does not exceed 35 ℃ and occasionally reaches 45 ℃ Note 4: Sockets that comply with this standard are only suitable for installation in the device using installation methods and locations that do not cause the ambient temperature to exceed 45 ℃ In places with special conditions, such as ships, vehicles, and similar places, as well as hazardous areas (such as possible explosions), special structures may be required
