Quartz glass and ultraviolet light
Due to the need for halogen bulbs to operate at higher temperatures, the ordinary glass shell will melt and produce flow at this temperature. Due to its extremely low coefficient of thermal expansion, fused quartz glass (Fused quartz) has been used instead of ordinary glass in halogen bulbs. Since ordinary glass can block ultraviolet light, quartz glass cannot, So halogen bulbs emit invisible light in the ultraviolet band. The dual nature of things is fully reflected here: on the one hand, we need to add protective measures to the light bulbs to reduce ultraviolet radiation, and on the other hand, we also use ultraviolet lamps to treat certain skin diseases or can obtain antique copper skin that can only be obtained when exposed to sunlight indoors. Based on the characteristics of quartz glass, if the glass tube wall is stained with oil stains (such as touching the glass shell of the bulb with hands), it will cause the regeneration cycle process to not be completed well, greatly affecting the lifespan of the bulb, and it needs to be removed with alcohol
