Scope of application:
This standard is applicable to load switches used in public and industrial distribution systems, including three-pole units with load isolation switches and current limiting fuses. The design can have:
- Breaking capacity: under rated recovery voltage, Any current up to and including the rated short-circuit breaking current
- Closing capacity: The circuit suitable for closing the rated short-circuit breaking current at rated voltage This standard does not apply to fuse circuit breaker, fuse contactor combination appliances in motor circuits, or combination appliances containing a single capacitor bank load switch.
