Scope
This chapter in GB 4706.1-2005 is replaced by the following:
This section covers the safety of household and similar electrical humidifiers with a rated voltage of no more than 250 V for single-phase appliances and no more than 480 V for other appliances.
Note 1: The following appliances are within the scope of application:
- appliances for atomizing water;
- appliances for evaporating water by heating;
- appliances for blowing air through moist media.
Humidifiers that are not intended for general household use but may still pose a risk to the public, such as those intended for use by non professionals in shops, light industries, and farms, also fall within the scope of this standard In practical terms, the common hazards of humidifiers involved in this section are those that may be encountered by all people in residential and residential environments However, generally speaking, this section does not address:- the dangers of unattended young children and disabled people using equipment;
- the situation of young children playing with equipment
Note 2: Note the following situations:
- For humidifiers intended for use on vehicles, ships, or aircraft, additional requirements may be required;
- In many countries, national health care departments, national labor protection departments, and similar departments have set additional requirements for appliances.
Note 3: This section is not applicable to:
- Liquid heaters (GB4706.19) Humidifiers intended for use in heating, ventilation, or air conditioning systems (IEC 60335-2-88)
- Medical electrical equipment (GB 9706.1)
- Industrial specific appliances Humidifiers intended for use in special environments where corrosive or explosive gases (such as dust, steam, or gas) are frequently generated Normative reference documents
