Determine the wiring type of the protection line

Use an N-PE loop resistance tester to test the resistance between the neutral line (N) and the protection line (PE) on the branch line led out from the main distribution board (box), and confirm that the line is TN-C or TN-C-S or TN-S or TT or IT system.

Inspection Content and Methods

1. Check and record the installation positions, quantities, models, main performance parameters, and installation processes of surge protective devices at all levels (material and cross-section of connecting conductors, color code of connecting conductors, and firmness of connection) 2. Conduct a visual inspection of the surge protector to ensure that its surface is flat, smooth, and free from scratches, cracks, burning marks, or deformation. The identification of surge protective devices should be complete and clear 3. Measure the distance between multi-level surge protectors and the length of the leads at both ends of the surge protector, which should comply with the requirements of lightning protection technical specifications 4. Check if the surge protector has a status indicator, and if so, confirm that the status indicator is consistent with the manufacturer's instructions 5. Check if there is a release device at the front end of the surge protector voltage limiting element installed on the circuit. If the surge protector does not have a built-in release device, check if there is an overcurrent protector and if the installed overcurrent protector meets the requirements of the lightning protection technical specifications 6. Check whether the voltage protection level of the installed surge protector meets the requirements of the lightning protection technical specifications 7. Check the installation process of the surge protector and the excessive resistance between the grounding wire and the equipotential bonding strip 8. Check the buried metal pipelines transporting fire and explosion hazardous substances and those with cathodic protection. When there is an insulation section at the outdoor entry point, the voltage switch type power surge protector or isolation discharge gap connected at the insulation section should meet the requirements of lightning protection technical specifications
