Battery powered appliances and other DC powered appliances are within the scope of this standard. Dual power appliances, whether mains or battery powered, are considered battery powered appliances when operating in battery mode This international standard covers the safety of electric shavers, hair clippers, and similar appliances for household and similar purposes with a rated voltage not exceeding 250 V
Note 101: Examples of similar appliances are hair removal devices and appliances used for nail and foot repair Instruments that are not intended for use by ordinary households but may pose a hazard to the public, such as those intended for use by laymen in shops and farms, are within the scope of this standard Examples of such tools include animal scissors, animal scissors, and hair styling tools To the extent feasible, this standard addresses the common hazards caused by electrical appliances that can be encountered by everyone inside and outside the home.
