The tensile performance of thermoplastic composite materials is the performance exhibited by thermoplastic composite materials under external tensile forces, which reflects the strength of the composite material's resistance to external tensile damage. Tensile performance is the most fundamental and important mechanical property of composite materials. Testing and studying the tensile properties of composite materials can not only determine the tensile performance index parameters of composite materials, but also analyze the factors and their relationships that affect the tensile properties, providing a theoretical basis for predicting the tensile properties and structural design of composite materials

1. Current Status Research

1. Sample Shape and Structure of Existing Testing Standards

Currently, when conducting mechanical tensile testing of composite materials, relevant testing standards for composite materials such as ASTMD3039 (Figure 1), ISO527-4, and ISO527-5 [3-5] (Figure 2) are generally used to fix the tested sample onto the testing machine (Figure 3). Usually, the material of the reinforcing plate can be metal, composite material, or plastic, with a total of 4 reinforcing plates. The reinforcement plate can ensure as much as possible that the specimen can effectively fracture in the middle working section (i.e. the position without the reinforcement plate attached) during the testing process, avoiding stress concentration when the testing machine clamps the root of the specimen and causing root fracture at both ends (non working area fracture, non effective fracture) to the greatest extent possible. This testing method has been extensively and systematically validated in thermosetting composite materials, and practice has proven its accuracy and reliability
