Whenever night falls and the lights are on, the colorful neon lights make the city look particularly beautiful. So, how was the neon light invented? It is said that neon lights were accidentally discovered by British chemist Ramsay in an experiment. That was a night in June 1898, when Ramsay and his assistants were conducting experiments in the laboratory to check whether a rare gas was conducting electricity. Ramsay injected a rare gas into a vacuum glass tube, and then connected two metal electrodes enclosed in the vacuum glass tube to a high-voltage power source, focusing on observing whether the gas could conduct electricity. At this moment, an unexpected phenomenon occurred: the rare gas injected into the vacuum tube not only began to conduct electricity, but also emitted an extremely beautiful red light.
